It’s been a nice, quiet holiday weekend here in the Big City

It’s been a nice, quiet holiday weekend here in the Big City…just the way we like it. We hope everyone enjoyed time with family and friends, and that your team(s) won if you have been watching football. We give a hearty high five to the Clemson Tigers, who won their game. About half of our residents are happy about this. The same goes for our officers. Even so, everyone had a good time and behaved themselves. Our officers did get ...

I am going to take a few minutes to weigh in on the Ferguson situation.

I am going to take a few minutes to weigh in on the Ferguson situation. We will call this “My Editorial”, as is does not reflect anyone’s views and opinions but my own. As you are probably aware, I want our Facebook page to be a fun and entertaining place where the public can learn more about law enforcement, and also to see that we are just like you. We have families, we go to church, we help with civic ...

It’s probably a good day to stay in and watch some football, or knit a sweater.

It’s a cold, rainy day in the Big City, and it looks like the rain will continue for awhile. It’s probably a good day to stay in and watch some football, or knit a sweater. With the way my teams have been performing this year, I think I’m going with the sweater thing.

If you decide to get out today, as I and many others have already done, please increase your following distance as you drive, and watch your surroundings carefully. ...

Good rainy Monday!

Posted by:

Good rainy Monday! The Break-In/Steal Stuff Season is upon us, and it looks like we are off to an early start. There were several car break-ins over in the Reidville area of the county, just down the road a piece. Please make sure that you do not leave valuables in your cars and trucks over night, and make sure that your vehicles are locked. I should’nt have to remind people to not leave their keys in their cars, but I ...

Thanks to the efforts of Karon Ratke, Duncan K-9’s Axel and Max are now equipped with ballistic (bullet proof) vests.

Thanks to the efforts of Karon Ratke, Duncan K-9’s Axel and Max are now equipped with ballistic (bullet proof) vests. After meeting Officer Dodd and Max at a Community Day event last year, Karon raised the money for the vests through businesses and individuals in our community. Vests are expensive, and K-9 vests are even more expensive. Thank you, Karon, for helping us protect our K-9 officers! The vests were custom made through Vested Interest in K-9’s, Inc.

It seems that two of our officers got to appear in our own impromptu version of a “Girls Gone Wild” video

It seems that two of our officers got to appear in our own impromptu version of a “Girls Gone Wild” video yesterday while investigating a case of Obtaining Goods by False Pretense at one of our scrap yards. These cases usually occur when someone tries to sell stolen goods for scrap metal. In this particular case, two gals, along with a couple of guys, tried to fraud the company by going across the scales with four people in the ...

Have you ever been spat on?

Posted by:

I’m hoping that’s never been the case. Unfortunately, as police officers, we sometimes have to deal with spitters. We had a disturbance call yesterday where a young female (sorry, but I cannot refer to her as a lady) decided to do just that. After showing officers her “wild side” (which is why we got the call in the first place), she was placed into custody, which did nothing to slow her down. After attempting to kick the window out ...

It’s Tuesday, November 4, 2014, Election Day.

We hope that everyone who is legally able to cast their vote will take the time to do so! We had a nice Halloween weekend here in the Big City, with nothing of significance to report. I was out of town over the weekend, attending the SC Police Chiefs Conference where we received some great training. The President of the Association was our former boss here in Duncan, Chief Cothran, who is now the Director of Public Safety and ...
