Good Halloween/Friday morning!

Posted by:

I know that everyone is excited about tonight’s festivities, with Trick-or-Treating taking place, and adult parties, too. This is a reminder that Halloween is the number one day of the year for pedestrian/motor vehicle accidents. As you drive about, please make sure that you keep an eye out for super heroes, goblins, zombies, ghosts and others that will be out on “foot patrol” tonight.

We have had a higher than normal rate of motor vehicle accidents during October, with several ...

It’s Wednesday afternoon, and I have had the theme song to the television cartoon series “Underdog” stuck in my head all day.

Posted by:

This was my favorite cartoon as a child, and I have always related to the underdog, whether it was a sports team, or with my job. If you have been a Clemson or Carolina fan during that past 20 years, or so, at some point you know what I am talking about. Some of you are probably thinking: “there was a cartoon series called Underdog?” Then you’ve googled it, and have seen how long ago that was! It’s also ...

It’s Monday, and we had a beautiful weekend in the Upstate.

Posted by:

It even looks like the nice weather is going to continue for the rest of the week. So, if you are cooped up inside at work, we wanted to let you know it’s pretty nice outside. Weekend occurrences here in the Big City were fairly light. We had a few minor traffic accidents that we worked, but there were no injuries reported. We had a couple of drunk drivers that were taken off the streets before they could do ...

Looking for something to do this weekend?

Looking for something to do this weekend? Come check out the Fall Festival at Reidville Elementary School! There will be a hot wing eating contest between members of the Duncan Police Department and the Reidville Fire Department. The Hose Draggers may have an advantage in putting out this fire…but we shall see!

We are in for lots of rain!

Officer Fowler (AKA Nugget) hit the streets yesterday after his extended 12 week stay at the Criminal Justice Academy. He is continuing his education with a Field Training Officer (FTO), and he decided to show us some of what he learned. On his very first traffic stop he captured two wanted ...

Today is Monday, October 13, 2014… Columbus Day.

Posted by:

Today is Monday, October 13, 2014…Columbus Day. Today is also my anniversary! If you are celebrating an anniversary today, congratulations! On this date, way back in 1978, I began my career as a law enforcement officer. It was Friday the 13th at 11 PM, which was the start of the third watch. I have never forgotten that date. I know by revealing this that I am opening myself up for jokes about patrolling in my horse and buggy, and ...

It’s a cold(er), rainy day in the Big City.

It’s a cold(er), rainy day in the Big City. We hope everyone is chillanxin’ and enjoying their afternoon. Yours Truly and some other officers from the department took a field trip down to Columbia, SC, on Friday to watch our newest member of the department graduate from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy (SCCJA). It was 91 degrees in our state capitol. Crazy. It was pretty much a packed house as friends, family members, and police officers from all ...

It’s Friday, and time for some high school football!

Posted by:

Okay, actually it’s not, due to the games having already been played Thursday night. Because of thunderstorms rolling through our area, the schools made a smart decision to play the games a day early. Our Byrnes Rebels were able to eek out a win over Spartanburg High, 45-41.

Yesterday’s occurrences were light, here in the Big City. We were called to one of our apartment complexes due to a couple arguing. Seems they had both been talking to “other people”. ...
